Chamaemelum nobile - Roman Chamomile common names: planting: annual - German Chamomile; perennial - Roman Chamomile traditional uses: insomnia, migraine, stomach disorders, eczema, eye irritation, hemorrhoids parts used: flower preparations: capsules, liquid, tea taste: pleasant precautions: do not take if pregnant or breast feeding; if you have a history of asthma or allergic dermatitis side effects: allergic conjunctivitis, skin irritation, severe allergic reaction, nausea & vomiting drug interactions: Coumadin and blood thinners scientific studies: initial studies show that Chamomile may induce a deep sleep. The FDA regards this herb as generally safe. dosage: Infusion: one tablespoonful
of dried flowers steeped in hot water; use up to 4 times daily as
tea; may also be used as a skin wash in a poultice or as a hair rinse.
