common names: planting: perennial traditional uses: enhance sex drive, increase lactation in nursing women, digestive disorders, appetite suppresant, breath deodorizer parts used: seeds preparations: tea, 2% & 4% oil in water preparation taste: licorice precautions: do not take if allergic to celery, carrots, mugwort, you are pregnant or breast feeding; if you have a history of hepatitis, liver disease; stay out of sunlight to minimize drug induced sensitivity to light side effects: nausea, vomiting, dermatologic photosensitivity, pulmonary edema, seizures, tumors drug interactions: not known scientific studies: none have been performed; FDA regards as generally safe dosage: infusion - 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls
of bruised seeds per cup of boiling water. Steep 10 minutes and drink
up to three cups per day; an alternative is to chew 5 grams of seeds
per dose.
